It’s not about the music

I was chatting to a friend about my latest post ‘Music to Motivate‘ and he said he wasn’t too sure about the choice of music on my playlist, ‘not really my thing’ is what he said. Anyway, I wanted to follow up and say, it’s not about the music.

It’s also about that ritual that gets you going before a workout, competition, big event, that gets you in the right state of mind to perform. This could be breathing techniques, or as simple a set of stretches. You’re conditioning your mind and body to react in a certain way when it’s given a cue.

For me music works really well and if you do choose music, then it doesn’t need to be the tracks I use, just make sure they are your thing!
